Do you have a stash of fabric scraps that will come in handy one day? This workshop will teach you how to use your fabric scraps creatively to produce a mini art quilt. You will make a fabric from material strips and incorporate free motion quilting. Develop your free machine embroidery skills to create a piece of art for your mini quilt.

The course is being held on Saturday 24th March 2018 in our lovely upstairs room at Treacle in Morpeth between 10am – 4pm

What Should I Bring?


Materials required:

  • A selection of fabric scraps. Each piece should be at least 6”x1”. Choose fabrics that work well together, you can use a range of textures.
  • A piece of wadding (minimum size 16”x6”)
  • Calico or lining fabric (minimum size 16”x16”)
  • Tiny buttons and/or beads for decoration
  • Stranded cotton

Material packs – these will be available in a range of colours. All materials will be provided to produce one mini quilt. They can be purchased on the day for £8.

Equipment required:

  • Sewing machine with foot control, cable, standard presser foot & darning foot
  • Pins
  • Needle
  • Fabric shears
  • Embroidery scissors
  • Rotary cutter and mat are useful

We have two sewing machines available but these would need to be pre-booked before the start of the workshop, they are offered on a ‘first come first-served’ basis. We also have spare additional rotary cutters and mats – again these would need to be pre-booked.

Please bring your lunch and don't forget your reading glasses if you wear them.

Payment
The total cost is £50.  Payment can be made in two instalments of £25 but the full amount must be paid before start of workshop (a deposit of £25 is required on the initial booking). Payments are non-refundable and can be made instore, over the phone or online. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any alternative payment plan - we are very flexible!

What do I do if I can't attend?
We have to book our tutors well in advance, for this reason bookings are non-refundable.

What if Treacle has to cancel a Workshop?
This happens very rarely and we endeavour to run all workshops as advertised and only cancel events in extreme circumstances.
The course needs a minimum of 3 participants to run.
We reserve the right to change the course date or cancel the course if the minimum number of participants is not met.
If this happens, you will receive a full refund or a credit to use against other events or goods from the shop.
