This workshop will introduce you to basic hand embroidery stitches and how to use them creatively. You will learn how to use a range of textured threads and yarns to create one piece of work, hand embroidered flowers. These can be framed or incorporated into textile products such as a decorated bag pocket or a cushion panel or even in a quilt.

The course is being held on Thursday 22nd February 2018 in our lovely upstairs room at Treacle in Morpeth between 10am-1pm

What Should I Bring?

Materials required:

  • A neutral or plain coloured fabric to embroider onto. This could be a plain weave cotton calico or a textured weave such as damask or a textured yarn such as silk noil. Minimum size 3”x3”
  • Cotton lining or calico (minimum size 10”x10”)
  • A selection of embroidery threads and yarns including stranded cotton
  • Scraps or organza and/or net fabrics

Material packs – all materials and threads are provided to complete both embroideries. These can be purchased on the day for £4. We also have a wide selection of hand painted embroidery yarns that can be purchased individual for £2.25 per skein.

Equipment required:

  • 1 x Embroidery hoop (4” – 8”)
  • Needles – a selection of sizes
  • Embroidery scissors

Embroidery hoops and chenille needles can be purchased in-store on the day.

Please bring your lunch and don't forget your reading glasses if you wear them.

Payment
The total cost is £30.  Payment can be made in two instalments of £15 but the full amount must be paid before start of workshop (a deposit of £15 is required on the initial booking). Payments are non-refundable and can be made instore, over the phone or online. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any alternative payment plan - we are very flexible!

What do I do if I can't attend?
We have to book our tutors well in advance, for this reason bookings are non-refundable.

What if Treacle has to cancel a Workshop?
This happens very rarely and we endeavour to run all workshops as advertised and only cancel events in extreme circumstances.
The course needs a minimum of 4 participants to run.
We reserve the right to change the course date or cancel the course if the minimum number of participants is not met.
If this happens, you will receive a full refund or a credit to use against other events or goods from the shop.
