This workshop will introduce you to basic hand embroidery stitches and how to use them creatively. You will learn how to use a range of textured threads and yarns to create two pieces of work, hand embroidered flowers. These can be framed or incorporated into textile products such as a decorated bag pocket or a cushion panel or even in a quilt.

The course is being held in our upstairs workshop space in Morpeth between 10am – 4pm

What Should I Bring?

Materials required:

  • A neutral or plain coloured fabric to embroider onto. This could be a plain weave cotton calico or a textured weave such as damask or a textured yarn such as silk noil.  Minimum size 3”x 3”
  • Cotton lining or calico (minimum size 10”x10”)
  • Scraps of green organza and / or net fabrics
  • Scraps of green silk
  • A very small amount of toy filling
  • A selection of embroidery threads and yarns including the following textures threads/yarns - medium green, fine green, yellow viscose ribbon, white stranded rayon, fine and medium yellow, purple boucle, fine and medium purple

Workshop kits will be available on the day - containing all of the above materials - priced at £4

Equipment required:

  • 1 x Embroidery hoop (4” – 8”) 
  • Needles – a selection of sizes
  • Embroidery scissors

Embroidery hoops and chenille needles can be supplied to use during the workshop or if you would like to take home, they can be purchased in-store on the day.

Please bring your lunch and don't forget your reading glasses if you wear them.

The total cost is £50.  Payment can be made in two instalments of £25 but the full amount must be paid before start of workshop (a deposit of £25 is required on the initial booking). Payments are non-refundable and can be made instore, over the phone or online. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any alternative payment plan - we are very flexible!

What do I do if I can't attend?
We have to book our tutors well in advance, for this reason bookings are non-refundable.


What if we have to cancel a workshop?
We endeavour to run all workshops as advertised.
The course needs a minimum of 3 participants to run.
We reserve the right to change the course date or cancel the course if the minimum number of participants is not met.
If this happens, you will receive a full refund or a credit to use against other events or goods from the shop.
