About Us
Treacle Wool Shop opened in October 2009, is situated in a gorgeous location, right next to the River Wansbeck in the pretty market town of Morpeth in Northumberland. The shop itself is in a characterful old building next door to The Chantry (built around 1296!) which houses the Tourist Office and Craft Centre.
Owned by Kym, the shop prides itself on excellent customer service and strives to be part of the local community. Treacle regularly run events and projects to include it's local knitters. The shop stocks something for all budgets from baby 4 ply to 100% alpaca, and offers a wide selection of yarns, accessories, patterns and magazines to inspire your knitting projects. And if you can't find what you want, it can easily be ordered for you. There is a Loyalty Scheme, both online and instore to reward you for shopping with Treacle. Pick up your card next time you are in the shop. If you shop online, your Loyalty Points will be added to your account with each purchase and can be redeemed against future orders.
Treacle has a wide range of unique gift items you won't find anywhere else in Morpeth, produced by local crafters including oil cloth bags, yarn bowls, cards, corsages, buttons and more. If you are looking for something special, pop in and have a look - you don't need to be a knitter!
You can shop online if you don't live locally and you can buy online and collect from the shop to save missing out on your chosen product! There are always great bargains to be had!
The Treacle Knit2gether is held on the first Wednesday of the month (730-930pm, £3) and always welcome new members. Morpeth Library also runs a weekly knitting group on Wednesday mornings from 1030-12.
If you would like something knitted, Treacle offers a commission service but please note it isn't possible to have adult garments knitted any more. Or if you are having trouble sourcing something, get in touch - there are no silly questions in the Treacle world!
